Computers. Who'd have 'em?
Everyone apparently, which makes you wonder why there are so many problems with them. I had a nice one today, my DVD drives disappeared. Just went. Not recognised on the hardware list, missing in explorer, unable to read any discs. Did a bit of a google search, tried a system restore, boot in safe mode at last good config, and a chkdsk on my C:\ drive (thanks Josh for the advice), which took fucking ages. None of those fixed it, in the end I did a search on an error I managed to pull up, which took me to the microsoft site and a guide (By them!) on editing and deleting certain registry keys to get it back. I never thought MS would publish an article online about doing something that extreme. If you don't know what registry is - it stores all the settings for Windows. You delete or edit the wrong thing and your computer won't boot up again.
What CAUSED the problem? iTunes. Don't ask, I have no idea. Now when I boot up iTunes it complains "Warning! the registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes." It's not a result of some other program you piece of crap, it's because I DELETED THEM.
I think the problem happened after I burnt some CDs on Monday night it went a bit crazy, which I guess damaged the registry keys and then the drives disappeared *shrugs* CDs worked though, so that's all good.
But enough about that. I have 5 days to FINISH portfolio. Shite. I'm sure I can do it, it's just getting the cases. I should be writing one right now. Oh well, I'll do it right after. I really, really hate porfolio and wish there was some other way of doing it, it's a pain in the ass and really boring... Meh.
Next Saturday is back to uni in the afternoon, then driving on to Becky's in the evening for her 21st. All the way to Coventry. Fun fun fun. Then week after that I'm driving up to Lincoln for the Bocking Gymfest, which will be good. Get to hang out with Matt, Jeeves, Carl, Tim, Rache, and everyone else, and then there's the first UKPBA (That's UK PowerBocking Association) meeting afterwards hopefully, if all goes well - http://www.ukpowerbocking.co.uk/
I've come to realise that most of my blogs start off really cynical and sarcastic, then just trail off into a boring recount of what I've done in the week/am going to do, so I apologise for that, but I can't really think of much to put.
Best get this portfolio done I s'pose...
